Encouraging individuals to work together with communties to find ways out of poverty.
"Being Poor Is Not A Crime. As a society, however, what we do economically to the poor is criminal."
- Thomas Benjamin
Vice President for International Community Development. Future Without Poverty, Inc.
Here is a question to help one understand our mission: Have you ever counted your blessings? If you have, do you ever wonder why so many people have to suffer in the world? Why so many children go to bed hungry after working all day? Why so many families have a difficult time providing the basics of food and shelter? Why in a world that has so much so many have so little?
We know that we cannot solve these problems alone, and in reality, we will never have a worldwide solution. However, we can make a difference in a few people’s lives. Maybe if each of us made a difference in just a few peoples lives the world would become a better place.
The future of Future Without Poverty is a very bright one. Based on our successful projects to date, we plan taking on larger projects that will have a greater impact both at the local and international level. It is critical that people see this organization as one that operates off the tenacity of each individual member, as it is only by working together that we can have the strongest impact and eliminate poverty - as many communities at a time as possible!
With student coordinated chapters in Haskell Indian Nations University and Northern Kentucky University in the U.S.A. but with interest brewing from Universities and communities in Mexico, Switzerland, Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ecuador, China, Bangladesh, and from many other countries requesting help, WE hope its only a matter of time, getting the right volunteers, student members, and universities before we are collectively able to make even more of a difference - even if in a few peoples lives!
We take part in retreats to connect with other student members, trips abroad to put projects into action, and local efforts to help at home by volunteering, mentoring, and service... but, all with a goal of sustainable "think globally act locally" driven projects - NOT HANDOUTS!!!
