ACED Student Association
The Applied Community and Economic Development Association was founded by students in the Stevenson Center for Applied Community and Economic Development. We welcome all students who are interested in issues of social justice and becoming active in community service.
The ACED Association plans various panel discussions and speakers, along with participating in service events in the Bloomington-Normal area. In past years we have held panel discussion with microcredit agencies, Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, and activists against mountaintop removal coal mining; along with several service events such as Habitat for Humanity builds.
ACED is part of the Stevenson Center department, and is an organization where graduate students have either returned from Peace Corps service, will become Peace Corps Volunteers in the future, or will hold internships domestically with a public/ non-profit agency after the conclusion of their studies. This group acts as a representative voice of the students in the Stevenson Center. However, we welcome all students who would like to become involved. We are seeking individuals interested in helping their community and increasing awareness of social justice issues locally, domestically, and internationally.
If you would like to get involved with the ACED Association, please contact Nicholas Beaty at npbeaty@ilstu.edu.
