Name
The name of the organization is Catholic Students Association (CSA) at Georgia State University (GSU)

Affiliation
We are affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta.

Purpose
Our purpose is to promote Catholicism in line with the Roman Catholic Church Magisterium.

Membership
Any GSU student is allowed to join. There are no membership fees.

Officers
There is a president and a campus minister. Presently, the president is Rudy Schlosser and the campus minister is Fr Stephen Lyness. The president is elected by fellow students of the Catholic Students Association and approved by the campus minister. The term of office is 1 year. Elections occur in April for the following 2 semesters. The president is responsible for communication to GSU Office of Student Life and Leadership, to the GSU CSA members, and to the campus minister. The campus minister is chosen by the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

Advisor
The advisor is Professor Neil Kinkopf. The term of service is 1 year and after 1 year, the president will ask the advisor if the advisor another year of service.

Events
Holy Mass is celebrated 4 times per week on campus. Additionally, there are special services for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, and Easter.

Requirements for the Event
Holy Mass requires 1 priest. Mass is celebrated in accordance with Roman Canon Laws. This is a religious / spiritual event.

Referendum and Recall
Presently, there are no referendum and recall procedures outside of referendum and recall procedures from the Archdiocese of Atlanta

Notification
Notification of Masses is published by the president after approval by the campus minister. The president emails students about the Masses.

“This organization prohibits its members, both individually and collectively from committing any acts of hazing.

Organization Agreement
ORGANIZATION AGREEMENT

Georgia State University Catholic Students Association agrees to abide by the Georgia State Code of Conduct. Furthermore, agrees to abide by all Student Life and Leadership policies as outlined in the student handbook; to check the organization’s mailbox regularly; to communicate via email upon request; to update the organization’s records whenever there is a change and submit a re-charter application in the Spring semester.




Catholic Students Association By-Laws


A. Membership:
Any GSU student or teacher or staff is allowed to join. There is no reason for expulsion unless a member violates Roman Catholic teaching. However, as Catholics, we believe in forgiveness.

B. Dues:
There are no dues.

C. Duties of Officers : The president is elected by fellow students of the Catholic Students Association. The term of office is 1 year. Election occurs in April for the following 2 semesters. The president is responsible for communication to GSU Office of Student Life and Leadership, to the GSU CSA members, and to the campus minister. The campus minister is chosen by the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

D. Executive Board: Presently, there is no executive board

E. Committees :
Presently, other than the president and campus minister, there is no committee.

F. Order of Business : Since there is no committee, only the president and campus minister meet to discuss activities of the Catholic Students Association. The main purpose is to promote Catholicism in line with the Roman Catholic Church Magisterium to students and staff at GSU. The main event is celebrating Holy Mass on campus 4 times per week.

G. Parliamentary Authority : Parliamentary Authority is not in existence at this time.

H. Amendment Procedures: Presently, there are no amendment procedures

I. Specific Policies :
Other than what is outlined above, there are no other specific policies and procedures unique to this organization necessary for its operation. Celebrating Holy Mass on campus is the key event and a Roman Catholic priest, assigned by the Archdiocese of Atlanta, is required for this celebration.
