Welcome to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at ETSU
We are a national fraternal society for men of all backgrounds with an interest in music.
For over 100 years Sinfonians have focused on the Fraternity’s Object:
"The Object of this Fraternity shall be for the development of the best and truest fraternal spirit; the mutual welfare and brotherhood of musical students; the advancement of music in America and a loyalty to the Alma Mater."
By this object, a diverse group of male college students with majors ranging from Music to Chemistry to Political Science are bound together to promote sociability among students and to further the creation, development, and promotion of American music, as we know it. Organizations, such as the Sinfonia Foundation, offer Sinfonians ways and means by which to accomplish the Fraternity’s noble Object while advancing their talent and career. Sinfonians are taught to develop themselves and their art, not just for the sake of art itself, but also for a means of enriching the lives of others. A perfect example is the Mills Music Mission in which Sinfonians go out into area hospitals and convalescent homes to uplift the spirits of the sick and the lonely through music. A wide variety of musical outreach programs exist for Sinfonians from the Collegiate on up to the National level.
