Live and Let Live
"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free" – Goethe
The Gonzaga Campus Libertarians is a philosophically/politically-oriented club that aims to engage the Gonzaga community in dialogue about the proper role of government, personal responsibility, personal rights, and freedom. While we are loosely associated with the Libertarian Party, we do not exist as a branch of the national organization. Rather, we are a political philosophy club composed of Libertarians, Republicans, Democrats, Anarcho-Capitalists, Moderates, and the "Undecided" that focuses on open dialogue and discussion of relevant topics and provides an outside perspective to many issues.
Many political issues today are seen through red and blue glasses. Voting usually falls along party lines and from this standard few elected officials stray. Rather than think of their constituents, government officials choose to place priority on their own political ambitions. Rather than think for themselves and using well-reasoned logic, Elephants and Donkeys become sheep, slaves to their own party slogans. And after all is said and done, we’re left with a nation confused, jaded, and increasingly apathetic, trapped within a two-party mindset and forced to choose the “lesser of two evils” election year after election year.
It is our hope to help free these people from this false dichotomy of American politics and awaken their minds to the wisdom of our great nation’s founding fathers and their ideals of economic and personal freedom.
